In this article, we will tell you about two such sisters, who are running an Indian multi-brand footwear company whose market cap is Rs 34476 crore. They are Alisha Malik and Farah Malik Bhanji. The duo are the third generation businesswomen who run Metro Brands, a footwear company.
Alisha is the whole-time director, while her elder sister Farah is the managing director of the company. They are daughters of Indian billionaire Rafique Malik, chairman of Metro Brands. According to Forbes, Rafique has a real-time net worth of USD 3 billion as of January 3.
Alisha holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts (Finance) from the University of Northumbria, UK. Alisha joined the company in 2009. Since then, she has been influential in spearheading new business initiatives. She was appointed as the whole-time director on the board of the company in September 2024.
Her elder sister, Farah, began her journey with the company in 2000. She held diverse roles and responsibilities and later reached the position of MD. She has over two decades of experience in retail. She is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin.
The Metro company was founded in 1955 as a single shoe store in Mumbai by their grandfather, Malik Tejani. The company was listed in the Indian share market in December 2021. As of September 30, 2024, the company operated 873 stores in 198 cities across 31 Indian states and Union territories, as per the company's website.
