The 33-year-old gave up USD 60 million in pay as the CTO of Loom.
Vinay Hiremath recently hit the headlines after he claimed he has been grappling with a lack of purpose since selling his company in 2023. He is an Indian-origin entrepreneur and co-founder of Loom, a video-sharing platform that enables users to create and share short-form videos.
Hiremath sold his firm for USD 975 million (Rs 8352 crore) in 2023 to Australian software company Atlassian. In a blog post, the 33-year-old revealed why he gave up USD 60 million in pay as the CTO of Loom. He is now studying Physics in Hawaii.
In a tweet, he wrote, "I am rich and have no idea what to do with my life. Where I talk about leaving Loom, giving up $60m, larping as Elon, breaking up with my girlfriend, insecurities, a brief stint at DOGE, and how I'm now in Hawaii self-studying physics."
Who is Vinay Hiremath?
Hiremath is a US-based entrepreneur who co-founded Loom with Shahed Khan and Joe Thomas in 2015 in San Francisco, US. He describes himself as a big fan of 'capitalism'. During his stint at Loom, Hiremath served as the company's chief technical officer.
He dropped out of the University of Illinois two years into the course. He transitioned from a small college town in Illinois to Palo Alto, California, to pursue his passion for startups. He served as a Software Engineer at Backplane, a well-funded Silicon Valley startup that focused on creating online communities. Here.
