A Look At Some Of The Major Investment Agreements And Developments at WEF 2025 Davos

India took center stage at the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24, 2025, showcasing its growing potential for strategic investments and collaborations. With the theme “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” the event emphasized rebuilding trust, reimagining growth, investing in people, safeguarding the planet, and advancing industries for the intelligent age.

Prominent participants included Sunil Kumar Gupta, Founder of SARC Associates, who led discussions with key policymakers such as Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. Gupta proposed recognizing sunrise industries like e-sports, gaming, and events as key growth hubs for India's youth market, emphasizing their role in driving digital economy growth.

Probir Roy, Co-Founder of Paymate, highlighted the significance of tech-driven businesses, stating, “As India doubles its GDP in the coming years, one-fifth of this growth will stem from gaming, e-sports, and payments—what I call ‘Fast Moving Tech-Driven Businesses (FMBs).’”

Maharashtra emerged as a leader, securing ₹6.25 lakh crore in investments across 31 MoUs, including major commitments from Kalyani Group, Reliance Infrastructure, and Balasore Alloys. Uttar Pradesh announced significant collaborations with Coca-Cola (₹2,500 crore) and AB InBev (₹1,000 crore), while Telangana attracted investments from Unilever and Amazon Web Services.

Ashutosh Verma, Founder of Anvi, noted, “Our AI-driven vision of a person-less bank aims to disrupt the $1.3 trillion informal lending market, bringing affordable credit to over a billion Indians.”

India’s WEF 2025 participation demonstrated its commitment to fostering innovation, industrial growth, and global partnerships, solidifying its position as a rising economic powerhouse.
