Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan’s love affair remains one of Bollywood's most sensational and enduring controversies. Their tumultuous romance blossomed on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's iconic film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, but soured within two years, ending on a bitterly acrimonious note.  

Aishwarya reportedly faced mental and emotional abuse in her relationship with Salman. Her parents disapproved of him, and he allegedly misbehaved with them. The final straw came when Salman created a scene outside Aishwarya's apartment at 3 am, leading her parents to bar her from seeing him and even filing a police complaint. It was Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend and actress Somy Ali, who lauded Aishwarya’s move to file FIR against the superstar.

In a candid interview, Somy said Aishwarya Rai showcased remarkable courage to be the first person to file an FIR against Salman. “Unhone stay away order submit kiya tha court ko Salman ke khilaaf. Toh sabse pehle joh guts wali aur courageous insaan hai woh hai Aishwarya. Uske baad maine post daala aur jitni bhadaas nikaalni thi nikaali. (Aishwarya got a stay away order from court. She was the first courageous woman to do so. After that, I came out on social media and vented everything out),”she had commended Aishwarya's bravery.

Somy also shared her own experience with Salman, alleging that he physically abused her during their relationship. She recalled Salman's justification for his behaviour, saying, "He'd tell me, 'I hit you because I care for you.' As if that's a valid reason to hurt someone." Before Somy, Salman was in a serious relationship with Sangeeta Bijlani. The couple was on the verge of getting married, with wedding cards already printed. However, their relationship ended abruptly when Sangeeta discovered Salman's infidelity with Somy.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan had revealed that Aishwarya Rai's parents disliked him due to his past affairs. He took responsibility for his actions, admitting he treated them poorly, and respected Aishwarya's father's complaints against him, holding no grudges.
