Sonu Sood reveals why he is not on talking terms with Kangana Ranaut: 'It's her foolishness, she is...'

In the 2019 historical drama film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Kangana Ranaut portrayed the titular role of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Sonu Sood was cast as Sadashiv Rao, Lakshmi Bai's brother-in-law, but he left the film midway due to creative differences with Kangana. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub replaced him in the film.

Now, in a recent interview, Sonu has revealed that he isn't on talking terms with Kangana since that incident. Speaking to  Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast, Sonu said, "I left Manikarnika also because Kangana is my friend. We are not on talking terms right now, but I have been very close with her family – her mother, father and sister meet me very lovingly. I have a rule in life that if I have ever been close to someone or friends with them, more or less, if I have a problem, I will never speak against them."

"People can say whatever they want, but I will never say anything against them. I might feel upset thinking, ‘This person was a good friend and said such things’. I feel that it’s her foolishness, she is not a bad person. But sometimes, when you write or say things, you don’t actually think it through. I might have also gone through this and done things out of being naive. However, there is no regret. It’s her own thinking, I prefer not to pay heed by answering", he further addded.

Meanwhile, Sonu and Kangana are now awaiting the release of their films. While Sood's action thriller Fateh releases in cinemas on January 10, Kangana's political drama Emergency will arrive in cinemas a week later on January 17. Fateh marks Sonu's directorial debut, and Emergency marks Kangana's solo directorial debut. She had shared directing credits with Krish Jagarlamudi for Manikarnika.
