Actor Sonu Sood revealed that Salman Khan did offer him the role of Chhedi Singh's brother for Dabangg 2, but he rejected the role. For the unversed, Sonu played the main antogonist Chhedi Singh in the 2010 blockbuster Dabangg. The Abhinav Kashyap's directorial ended with a hint of Chhedi's brother who is expected to avenge his death from Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan). However, Dabangg 2 saw a new group of villains, led by Prakash Raj with Nikitan Dheer and Deepak Dobriyal.
In a recent interview, Sonu admitted that he was offered the main villain role in Dabangg 2 as well, but he rejected the film. While speaking to Humans of Bombay, Sonu said, "Salman and Arbaaz are like my family. So they called me again to play the role of Chhedi Singh's brother, but I rejected the role." Sonu emphasised that it is important to say 'NO', and further explained. "Somehow the role didn't excite me. Salman and Arbaaz were very sweet and they told me to do it. But I told them, 'Mujhe excitement nahi aa raha, yeh role ko le kar. Toh main kaise kar paunga. They said 'it's okay, no issues'." Sonu further revealed that during Dabangg 2's release, Salman invited him to the premiere, and he attended. Dabangg and Dabangg 2 both were blockbusters, but Dabangg 3 underperformed.

On the work front, Sonu will soon be seen in actioner Fateh. The movie also marks his directorial and production venture. While promoting the film with DNA India, Sonu revealed that he rejected 'best of Bollywood', because he was doing great work in the South. "The kind of work I did in south cinema, the range of roles that I portrayed is very satisfying as an actor. I'm glad that I went south. I loved the craft of South and worked with the best of the best. South has been my learning ground. Because I was working down South, I had the guts to say no to best of Bollywood saying, 'main karunga toh acha karunga, warna nahi karunga'." Sonu Sood's Fateh will be released in cinemas on January 10, 2025.
