Art patron and collector Shalini Passi gained significant fame with 2024's OTT series, The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives Season 3, and months after the show, she recalled the darkest phase of her life. In an interview with Hautterfly Shalini opened up about her overcoming health complications, and how she defied medical expectations. 

At 20, Shalini Passi gave birth to her son, Robin, but after the childbirth, she lost sensation in her legs and spine. Shalini suffered from a condition that left her unable to walk, dance, or wear heels—activities she loved. Shalini revealed that her doctor predicted that she would need lifelong spinal injections and would never regain full mobility. 

Shalini remembered, "My doctor said, ‘You will have to get an injection in your spine for the rest of your life’ because I lost all sensation in my spine and legs,” she recalled. The doctor further discouraged her from dancing or wearing heels. Unwilling to accept this fate, Shalini walked out of the doctor's office and made her way to her dance class. “I said I have to dance; I love dancing and I love wearing heels.”

How Shalini defy medical expectations?

Shalini didn't follow the prescribed treatment of spinal injections and opted for a more holistic approach to recovery. She adopted alternative therapies such as yoga, Ayurveda, exercise, and muscle training. In time, she worked hard to strengthen her back and regain her mobility. 

Shalini's commitment paid off, as she was able to walk, dance, and wear heels once again. Shalini's doctor continues to see her for periodic check-ups, and was astounded by her progress, even calling it a “miracle.”

Shalini graced Karan Johar's fashion show

On January 10, Karan Johar hosted a dazzling fashion show on January 10, and it was graced by his favourites, including Sidharth Malhotra, and The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives' gang, Shalini Passi, Neelam Kothari, and Maheep Kapoor. Karan held the show to showcase his jewellery brand 'Tyaani Jewellery'. 

Karan's friends walked the ramp and dazzled the evening. In a viral video, Neelam, Shalini, and others aced the ramp walk like a pro. Seema Sajdeh came in a stunning mini-black dress with embellishments. Bhavana Panday wore a matching skirt and top with a dazzling necklace to enhance the look. Neelam Kothari Soni and Maheep Kapoor looked stunning in pantsuits while our favourite Shalini Passi wore a slit black dress with white detailing.
