Saif Ali Khan discharged from hospital six days after he was attacked at home

Saif Ali Khan has been discharged from the Lilavati hospital on Monday, six days after he was stabbed at his Bandra home in the early hours on January 16. As per reports, Khan was been advised complete bed rest for one week. The Kal Ho Naa Ho actor is yet to exit the hospital, as his family is completing the discharge formalities.

The attack occurred when an intruder entered the actor's home with alleged intentions of theft on Thursday. Saif, attempting to intervene during a confrontation between the intruder and his housemaid, sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine. As per media reports, doctors removed the 2.5 inches of knife from his wound. 

Mumbai Police has arrested the accused from Thane, and have given the statement on the accused being a Bangladeshi national who illegally entered India. The attacker, identified as Mohammed Shehzad, was a national-level wrestling champion when he resided in Bangladesh.

Earlier, Shehzad had said in his statement that he was unaware about the identity of the actor. He is in police custody after he was produced in the Bandra Court on Sunday. The accused’s statement about him being oblivious to the celebrity status of the actor seem to be congruent to the statement of the rickshaw driver, who also said that he didn’t realise that he was taking Saif Ali Khan to the hospital.

At the time of incident, Saif's wife Kareena Kapoor Khan was present at home along with other members of the family as they all were sleeping. After the shocking incident, Kareena, through her note on Instagram, requested for privacy from the media and paparazzi and asked them to refrain from the relentless speculation and coverage.
