Pritish Nandy passes away at 73, Anupam Kher pens emotional tribute for the filmmaker: 'Always larger than life'

Famous poet, painter, journalist and editor, television personality, animal activist, member of Parliament and producer Pritish Nandy has passed away. He founded Pritish Nandy Communications, one of the first corporate entities in the Hindi film industry, in 1993. As per reports, the filmmaker died due a cardiac arrest at his home on Mumbai on Wednesday. He would have turned 74 on January 15.

Anupam Kher confirmed his demise and penned an emotional tribute for the filmmaker on his X account. Sharing a couple of photos of Nandy, he wrote, "Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends #PritishNandy! Amazing poet, writer, filmmaker and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared lots of things in common. He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across. Always Larger than life. I learnt so many things from him."

"Off-late we didn’t meet often. But there was a time when we were inseparable! I will never forget when he surprised me by putting me on the cover of Filmfare and more importantly The Illustrated Weelky. He was the true definition of यारों का यार! I will miss you and our times together my friend. Rest well", Kher further added.

Pritish Nandy produced famous films such as Jhankaar Beats, Kaante, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Ugly Aur Pagli, and Chameli among others.
