Many are unaware that Nayanthara was brought up as a Nasrani Christian by Malayali parents. However, in August 2011, the actress embraced Hinduism at the Arya Samaj Temple in Chennai and Nayanthara became her official name.
Nayanthara's name was once associated with Prabhudeva. It was said that Nayanthara adopted Hinduism only to marry Prabhudeva, but later both of them parted ways.
Nayanthara then married filmmaker Vignesh Shivam in 2022. In October 2022, the couple announced the birth of their twin children - Uyir and Ulagam, via surrogacy.
