Manoj Bajpayee's wife, Shabana Raza, is better known by her stage name, Neha Bajpai. She began acting in 1998 with the film Kareeb, where she starred alongside Bobby Deol. However, she stopped acting in movies after 2009.

In a recent interview with Mid-Day, her husband, actor Manoj Bajpayee, shared why she stopped acting in films and didn't continue her career after 2009. The actor mentioned, "She didn't quit films, she stopped getting work for some reason. Too many politics here and there. She is also an outsider and didn't have any mentor."

Manoj Bajpayee also shared more about her time in Bollywood, including a strange incident. He recalled how filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra once bit her hand. Talking about the incident, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor explained, "Since Shabana didn't have formal training in acting, during a song sequence, she kept raising the wrong hand. She was supposed to raise her left hand, but instead, she kept raising her right hand."

He further mentioned, "So for her to raise the left hand without forgetting, Vidhu bit her there. Nobody can do this with me." Manoj Bajpayee also mentioned that this situation confused his wife, as she was new to the film industry at the time and didn't know much about how things worked in Bollywood.

Manoj Bajpayee stated, "Because she was so new, she didn't know if the action was appropriate. She thought this is the way how filmmakers behave. She must have thought they are all mad genuises, they are capable of doing anything they want."

For those who aren't aware, Shabana's debut film Kareeb was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. A few years after the film's release, Bobby Deol also discussed this incident in an interview.

Recalling how the filmmaker made things difficult for Shabana, Bobby Deol said, "He would constantly yell at her. For one scene, Neha had to come down the mountain and give me her left hand. But she kept getting confused. When she couldn't get this right after repeated takes, Vidhu asked her to bite her right hand. She did but she still got it wrong in the next take. After 20 takes, Vidhu lost his cool. And you know what he did? He bit her right hand. I was too shocked to react."

After Kareeb, Shabana appeared in Fiza with Hrithik Roshan, Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet with Ajay Devgn, and the Tamil film Alli Thandha Vaanam alongside Prabhu Deva. Her final film was Acid Factory, released in 2009.
