Kangana Ranaut wants Karan Johar to act in her directorial: 'It won’t be typical saas-bahu...'

Kangana Ranaut and Karan Johar have a long-standing and contentious history, marked by public feuds and heated exchanges. Recently, the actress tried to reignite it with her latest jibe at the filmmaker while promoting her upcoming directorial Emergency.  

During her appearance on the popular singing reality show, Kangana proposed a collaborative project with Karan, expressing her sincere desire to direct a film featuring the filmmaker. She emphasized her commitment to creating a meaningful and substantial movie, instead of typical daily soap content, indirectly taking a dig at the latter’s film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.

“I’m sorry to say, but Karan sir should do a movie with me. I’ll give him a very good role, and I’ll make a very good film. It won’t be a typical mother-in-law versus daughter-in-law drama, nor just a PR exercise. It will be a proper film, with a meaningful role for him,” said Kangana, who returns with his second directorial Emergency, following the success of Manikarnika. For the unversed, Karan Johar's most recent directorial venture was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, a film that explored the complexities of a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship, set against the backdrop of a romantic tale involving two individuals from different castes.

The feud between Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut started six years ago when she appeared on his show, 'Koffee With Karan', where she labelled him as a ‘movie mafia’ and a ‘flag bearer of nepotism’. In response, Karan suggested that Kangana could leave the industry if she had so many issues with it and advised her to stop playing the victim card. Last year, Kangana reignited the conflict by accusing Karan of manipulating box office figures ahead of his film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani', which starred Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.

For the uninitiated, Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut sparked a feud that originated six years ago on Koffee With Karan where Kangana boldly called out Karan as a symbol of nepotism and the movie mafia. Karan retaliated by suggesting Kangana should consider leaving the industry if she had so many grievances and advised her to stop portraying herself as a victim. The tensions reignited last year when Kangana accused Karan of manipulating box office numbers to promote his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
