John Abraham and Bipasha Basu broke up just days before filming Billo Rani, director Vivek Agnihotri reveals 'there were lots of...'

Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, once touted as Bollywood's most dashing couples, bork up just days before shooting for their iconic song Billo Rani, from Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. The former couple starred in many films together including Jism, Goal, and Madhoshi, however, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal became special as it was their final film together before parting ways. Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri recently made a shocking revelation on X (formerly Twitter), recalling what went on behind the scenes during the Billo Rani shoot. The director shared how John Abraham and Bipasha Basu, despite their crackling chemistry in the song, had a tense personal life.

Replying to a tweet, Vivek Agnihotri wrote, "This song has a history. Producers didn’t want it. Javed Saab was against the hook ‘Billo Rani’, and Pritam wasn’t sure about the qawwali style. John and Bipasha had a break-up just a couple of days before it so there were lots of issues. But only the Late Saroj Khan believed in me. She said this will become the biggest hit and it did. Big salute to Pritam, Javed saab and Saroj ji."

Apart from Bipasha Basu and John Abraham, the Billo Rani song from the 2011 film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, was picturised on Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani. 

Bipasha Basu and John dated for nine years before calling it quits. The reason behind their split was never released but the estranged couple maintained that it was a mutual decision. Bipasha Basu, in an interview with TOI, had later said that the break-up was “definitely not amicable", with John Abraham claiming that it was “very amicable and there was nothing ugly about it."

Nevertheless, both John Abraham and Bipasha Basu have now moved on and are happy in their individual lives. Bipasha Basu is married to Karan Singh Grover, with whom she shares a daughter, Devi. John Abraham, on the other hand, is married to Priya Runchal.
