Had Sonu Sood been offered post of CM-Deputy CM? Actor reveals truth

Sonu Sood earned a reputation as a national hero with his philanthropic initiatives during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. He helped out stranded migrants to reach home and helped others in need. He went to a great extent to serve the people of the nation, and imagining him taking the role of national servant would not have been a wild thought. Interestingly, the actor in his interviews admitted that he was offered the post of chief minister or deputy chief minister, however, he declined. 

In a candid conversation with Humans of Bombay, Sonu Sood disclosed that he has received lucrative offers to join politics, including proposals to take on the esteemed roles of Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister. “I’ve even been offered the position of Chief Minister. When I refused, they said, ‘Become the Deputy CM then.’ These were very influential people in the country who also offered me a seat in the Rajya Sabha,” he said. “They told me, ‘Take the Rajya Sabha membership. Join us; you don’t need to fight for anything in politics.’ It’s an exciting phase when such powerful people want to meet you and encourage you to make a difference in the world,” he was quoted as saying. 

However, Sonu decided to steer clear of politics as he believed it was deeply rooted in his values. He firmly believes that people typically enter politics for two reasons: financial gain or a thirst for power - neither of which resonates with him. He said he values his independence and freedom to help others without needing permission or being accountable to anyone else. ““I would get high security, a house in Delhi, and a significant position. Someone told me that I’d have a letterhead with a government stamp, which holds immense power. I said, ‘That sounds great, and I like hearing it. But I’m not ready right now.’ Maybe a few years down the line, I might feel differently. Who knows?” he added. 

Meanwhile, Sonu is geared for his directorial debut with Fateh, which stars Jacqueliene Fernandez in the female lead.
