Emergency box office collection day 1: Kangana Ranaut, the lady who always fought against favouritism, has defeated nepotism. Her film Emergency has opened to positive reviews and favourable word-of-mouth, and that's why Emergency has opened better than Ajay Devgn, Aaman Devgan, and Rasha Thadani-starrer Azaad. 

The early estimates of Emergency is out, and Kangana Ranaut can smile as her film opened better than her last release Tejas. As Sacnilk reported, Emergency collected Rs 2.39 crores on Friday. It is to be considered that January 17 marked Cinema Day, where movie tickets were available at affordable prices starting from Rs 99. As per the trend, Emergency will certainly grow stronger during the weekend. However, the film will have to sustain the momentum to have a decent weekend. 

Emergency was released in cinemas with Azaad, and as per the trade portal, Azaad opened with Rs 1.60 crores only. Despite the big names involved in love drama, and the affordable ticket price, Azaad couldn't take full advantage of the positives. 

Emergency not screened in Punjab? 

Amid the ruckus over Kangana Ranuat’s film ‘Emergency’, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday morning said that governments and censor boards must keep an eye on such films as they “hurt” the brotherhood in the country. He said that such films show scripted stories, which are not true. Warring further claimed that such films twist facts as they wouldn’t be successful if there was no ‘masala’.

"Whenever such films are made, the facts are twisted in them because the film won’t succeed if there is no ‘masala’. Similarly, Udta Punjab was also made…I mean to say that it is not right that such films are made only for entertainment. Governments and sensor boards should keep an eye on such movies as they harm the brotherhood in the country because what is shown is not true, it is just a scripted story,” Warrning, who is also a Congress MP, told ANI.
