Baby John: Karan Johar calls Varun Dhawan an 'action hero with swag and soul'; actor responds

Varun Dhawan made his acting debut with filmmaker Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year. Since then, the actor has been like a student to the filmmaker. As his Baby John hits the theatre, Karan took some time out of his busy schedule and penned an appreciation note for the actor. Backed by Atlee, Baby John features Varun in a never-seen-before action avatar, alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi and Jackie Shroff.

Karan took to his Instagram stories and shared the poster of Baby John featuring Varun in a rugged look. He wrote, “Baby John is one helluva masala ride! Massive action! Big scale entertainment and @varundvn owing the action hero with swag and soul!!!! Don’t miss this new year spectacle". He also tagged Atlee in his story post. Varun also dropped a sweet reaction to his post. 

Earlier, when Baby John’s taster cut dropped, Karan expressed his excitement. He affectionately called Varun his ‘student’ and gave a shout-out to the entire Baby John team.“Wah mere Student!!!! @varundvn Dhamaal macha diya! Christmas bonanza!!! Congratulations team BABY JOHN!!!!!!” His enthusiastic post had amplified the buzz around the film. 

Baby John opened to mixed reactions and has been recording an average box office collection. Directed by Kalees, the film is the remake of Atlee’s Theri in which Varun plays the fearless DCP Satya Verma. According to Sacnilk, early estimates reveal Baby John has collected Rs 15.75 crore in India net so far. Besides Baby John, Varun garnered appreciation for his web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, in which he featured opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Meanwhile, Karan recently announced a romantic comedy- Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, being helmed by Sameer Vidwans. The film will mark his first collaboration with Kartik Aaryan after the Dostana 2 fallout.
