Junaid shared his struggle with dyslexia, while also disclosing that his parents discovered his condition while reading the script of Taare Zameen Par (2007).
Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan's son, has embarked on his Bollywood journey with his debut film Maharaj. He's now set to star alongside Khushi Kapoor in his upcoming film, Loveyapa. The movie's title track, Loveyapa Ho Gaya, has just been released, giving audiences a glimpse of Junaid's romantic side as he plays a charming lover boy. The actor, who is on a promotional spree, recently made a shocking revelation about his childhood that he was diagnosed with dyslexia at the early age of 6.
In a candid interview, Junaid shared his struggle with dyslexia, while also disclosing that his parents discovered his condition while reading the script of Taare Zameen Par (2007). For the unversed, the film revolved around a young boy struggling with dyslexia in which Aamir had played the lead role of a supportive teacher in the film. “Actually, I think it was a little bit the other way around. When they heard the script of Taare Zameen Par, they were like, ‘Ek second… We have seen this in our lives.’ And actually, it was at that point that they took me to a specialist, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia,” he said in an interaction with journalist Vicky Lalwani.
Junaid expressed his gratitude for receiving timely support and care for his dyslexia and also appreciated his parents' understanding approach. He noted that they never put pressure on him to excel academically, instead focusing on his overall well-being and development. “Neither of my parents were particular (about my results)… I was also diagnosed with dyslexia very early on. So, I think they were mindful of that, especially in schooling,” he added.
Meanwhile, Junaid’s upcoming film Loveyapa is directed by Advait Chandan and produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, Kalpathi S. Suresh, and Pradeep Ranganathan. The film also has Ashutosh Rana, Grusha Kapoor, Tanvika Parlikar, Yuktam Khosla, and Kiku Sharda. The film is set to arrive in theatres on February 7, 2025.
