In 2024, many cars were launched in the Indian market, including the new Tata Curve, Maruti Dzire and more. Luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Kia Carnival also hit the market. Now, the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2025 award has been announced and it goes to Mahindra Thar ROXX. This popular SUV beat the runner-up, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire for the award by a 2-point difference, with the Maruti Suzuki Swift settling for the second runner-up award.
Launched in August 2024, Mahindra Thar Roxx serves as the 5-door version of the pre-existing Thar SUV. The Mahindra Thar comes in 6 broad variants namely MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L and AX7L. Its ex-showroom price ranges from Rs. 12.99 Lakh to Rs. 22.49 Lakh.
It has received a positive response from Indian car buyers. SUV scored a total of 139 points while the runner-up Maruti Suzuki Dzire’s total tally stood at 137 and the Maruti Suzuki Swift scored 83 points. The other cars nominationed for the award were Maruti Dzire, Maruti Swift, Mahindra Thar RoXX, MG Windsor EV, Citroen Basalt, Tata Curve and Curve EV, Tata Punch EV and BYD eMAX 7.
